Experimental studies on pressure drag and aerodynamic noise of cylinder with porous coatings

Previous numerical studies hold inconsistent viewpoints of the porous coating on a circular cylinder reducing or increasing drag, and present experimental study aims to clarify this argument. Additionally, common viewpoint is that coatings can suppress both near-field wall pressure fluctuations far-field acoustic pressure, but optimal parameters materials are still unclear. In paper, reveal effects three parameters, i.e., incoming flow velocity, pores per inch, thickness metal foams, fluctuations, associated noise level.
